Singapore Advertisers Association Elects StarHub’s Oliver Chong as New President

Singapore, 23 August 2017 – The Singapore Advertiser’s Association (SAA) elected Oliver Chong of StarHub as its new President at its Annual General Meeting held on the 18th of August 2017.

He succeeds Benjamin Teh of Pilot Pen Singapore, who had served as President for the past 8 years.

Teh said, “We are at a time when unprecedented changes are taking place in the advertising sector, not just in Singapore but around the world, and the media landscape is more complex than ever before. SAA will continue to support our members in facing these challenges. We will need to band together to help one another as we sail in uncharted waters.”

“I am also pleased that SAA now has a new leadership team lead by Oliver Chong, and I have no doubt given his passion and commitment, that he and the Executive Council will take SAA further”, added Teh.

Chong is a marketing veteran with two decades of leadership experience. As the Vice President of Brand and Marketing Communications, he is instrumental to the growth of the StarHub brand. As a testament to his personal success, Chong was named the Creative Client of the Year at the Creative Circle Awards 2015, and and was Campaign Asia’s Client Marketer of the Year in 2012.

Commenting on the election results, Chong said, “I am honoured to be elected as President of the Singapore Advertisers Association. As the marketing landscape continues to evolve rapidly, my hope is that SAA will carry on to serve as a lighthouse, guiding advertisers to navigate in today’s digital world.”

Chong is a firm supporter of industry development and he believes in grooming the next generation of marketers.

Chong added, “We will be embarking on a number of exciting initiatives with the aim to help marketing professionals better understand today’s challenges and to develop professionally. Partnering with leaders in the marketing and advertising industry, we will be curating programmes that addresses today’s marketing challenges. To date, we are heartened by the support given and we would like to encourage more advertisers to join SAA and benefit from the power of collective learning. Together, we will push the boundaries as we seek to be effective marketing professionals.”
